Outdoor Learning
In Class One we like to get outdoors as much as we can. We love exploring our field and woodland areas. We like to learn new skills.

Thank you for our amazing visits to the Horsefield
Another fantastic session at Alan’s Woods, it all starts with a story from Alan, this week it was all about a blue duck who just wants help to make a pizza! Alan’s stories always spark our imaginations whether that be with the crafting side or in our own story telling adventures! Can you spot the pirates dropping anchor, the warrior mud princesses of the Horsefield, the mystery swamp monsters (make sure you keep your feet on the bricks…don’t fall in!), the troll chasing the three billy goat gruff’s across his bridge, the team work of those making the troll’s snotty soup in the mud kitchen and of course the cheeky woodland creature taking a nap in the hammock. Or perhaps you can see the determination and bravery of the tree climbing, rope swinging, puddle hoppers as they push themselves further each week. And of course every session is fuelled by the delicious campfire snacks and hot chocolates from Caitlin.
It’s just fantastic………. and very muddy!
Robins and Polar bears by ALAN SCULLY
We had a fantastic outdoor learning day with Alan Scully as he told us a story about the robin and the polar bear. We used our fab skills to create a robin and polar bear Christmas decoration to hang on our trees at home.
Merry Christmas and thank you Alan!
Visiting the Horsefield
Today we visited Alan at the Horsefield and listened carefully as we found out all about the Naughty little Red Riding Hood and the good wolf. We explored how characters can have different roles in the stories we hear. We had a great time exploring the Horsefield, keeping our selves safe around the camp fires whilst sharing and helping each other make our amazing wolves. Before coming back to school we had plenty of time to explore the area, taking turns on the rope swings amd creating our own stories on the stage.

Captain Zero and his Sidekick Peggie
Today was our second session down at the Horsefield and it was all about the side-kick. Who is there to help our super heroes. We listened carefully to Captain Zero as he told us how he came by his name and his side-kick Peggy. We shared the resources and followed our instructions on how to make our sidekicks. We even gave them cool names and used them to act out our favourite stories. Captain Zero made us delicious Super noodles and his side-kick filled us with hot chocolate. Once we had eaten we explored the Horsefield again.
Exploring art outside
We love being outside and its a great way to help our creative imaginations grow. We love to show off our creative artworks too.
Dinosaur Den
Class One worked together as a team to make our very own Dinsaur Hideout. We talked about safety and worked together to solve problems. Then we all had great fun role playing in the dinosaur den - looking out for and tracking dinosaurs.
We spotted lots of different dinosaurs like this stregasuarus below.

Our Outdoor Learning Day
We had an amazing time when Clough Head and Wellhouse came to join us for our Class One Federation Outdoor Learning Day. It was great listening to and making the characters from the stories being told by Alan, Lisa, and Ruth, from Be More Outdoors. They brought three different stories alive with their amazing talents, including Brair Rabbit, The real story of Goldilocks and Chicken Licken.
In our groups we made dens and houses for the Three Little Pigs out of sticks, straw and bricks of all different sizes. We even explored Hansel and Gretel, making sweetie houses, painting stones, making witches and building the witches house.
It was a fantastic day especially as we were able to mix and spend time making new friends and working with the children from all the Class One’s across the Federation.
STICK LADY AT THE HORSEFIELD
Our third visit to the Horsefield we heard the story of the Stick lady and the squirrel. We listened carefully to the story and talked about keeping ourselves safe. We enjoyed eating taosted garlic pitta bread and drinking our yummy hot chocolate. The weather was lovely today so we had a super time exploring the horsefield, making stick men, sharing resources and playing together.
